What's in a Name?

It is believed that Richard McKinnis first settled in the canyon area at the base of Rabbit Ears Pass which is currently known as Storm Mountain Ranch, in Steamboat Springs. Today, McKinnis Creek flows through Fox Estates and into the property at its southwestern end. McKinnis Creek and McKinnis Creek Road memorialize this original settler to the Yampa Valley.
